I contacted GA about their Web Development immersive program. I had to give them my email address to download the syllabus for the courses. Someone from admissions sent me a follow up email message asking me if I wanted to set up a call to discuss the programs. I did, so I scheduled a meeting. When the meeting confirmation came, they had written a note saying that unless I was interested in enrolling in the next cohort (that was starting in a few weeks) they could only talk to me for 5-10 minutes. Gee thanks. They don't realize that it takes a lot of planning to move to a new state, find housing, etc. to attend their program. So unless you're ready to write a check within the next week, they don't want to talk to you.

I took a long look at this program but ended up going with Bloc. (Bloc is an online bootcamp) Before Bloc I was working in marketing at a big tech start up, not really making much of a difference at the company. I had started looking into a graphic design courses at City College of San Francisco but after my second course I realized that I would need a more intensive course if I really wanted to switch to UX/UI Design from my current position. That’s when I did some research and found Bloc.

Bloc was convenient because it allowed me to keep my 9-5, instead of having to physically go to an in-person program. It was pretty affordable compared with other courses i had looked at. I’m now working at a tech company as a web designer.

- Each course is typically limited to 20 students.
- Professionally designed curriculum, in consultation with practitioners from the field.
- There is a team of up to 4 developers in the classroom each day, with a lead instructor and three Developers in Residence.
- Access to a community of senior developers who mentor students during and after the program.
- Complimentary access to extracurricular classes and workshops at GA (including UX workshops, business strategy, and more).
- Global classroom with classmates going through the same program in New York and London.
- A focus on labs and hands-on learning throughout the program.
- Access to resources and guidance to help students transition into Junior Developer roles (including special hiring events, interview prep, resume reviews, and private networking opportunities).
